High-tech made in Haslach is at home wherever the toughest demands are placed on drivers and, above all, on technology.

We live for motorsports and are committed to the success of our partners with passion, decades of experience, concentrated expertise, and state-of-the-art manufacturing technology. This results in individual motorsports wheels that are precisely tailored to the respective requirements: completely forged or multi-piece made of aluminum, magnesium, or composite materials – and 100% made in Germany from the raw part onwards.

Technical masterpieces with perfect styling, minimal weight, and maximum rigidity – for car manufacturers, private drivers, and racing teams – destined for a place on the podium!

History

Our History since 1970

1970

Establishment of BBS

BBS is born when Heinrich Baumgartner and Klaus Brand set up a production facility for plastic car body parts in Schiltach. Baumgartner, a racing enthusiast and inventor, is obsessed with the idea of an aluminum wheel.

1972

Multi-piece motorsport wheel

In 1972, the company succeeded in designing a three-piece wheel. It was approved by car manufacturer Ford for use on the Capri RS 2600. The three-piece racing wheel with a cast aluminum wheel center and a rolled aluminum rim was groundbreaking.

1975

The cross spoke

The BBS cross-spoke wheel begins its triumphant advance – first as a three-piece version, later as a one-piece version, which BMW orders as original equipment.

1975

Technology from motorsport

Whether in the German Racing Championship, with Porsche in the World Championship for Production Cars, or in the 24 Hours of Le Mans, the company from the Black Forest became the benchmark in motorsport as a wheel supplier. By the end of the 1970s, BBS wheels were fitted to most racing touring cars and, increasingly, to road-going tuned cars.

1992

For Ferrari

The lightest forged and rotation-rolled magnesium wheel is manufactured in Formula 1.

1996

Welded magnesium aero wheels

With welded aero magnesium wheels, we set early standards in motorsport: maximum weight reduction, optimized aerodynamics, and maximum structural integrity for use under the most extreme conditions.

1999

5-axis machining

for further weight reduction

Back in the late 1990s, we invested in 5-axis CNC technology to produce complex geometries in a single clamping operation – for maximum precision, optimal surfaces, and more efficient processes.

2002

Forging/Flow Form Technology

For magnesium WE 43

With the introduction of new manufacturing technologies, we continue to set the standard in motorsports and the automotive industry.

2003

Magnesium forged wheels

for road sports cars, e.g., Porsche Carrera GT

The Porsche Carrera GT is an uncompromising icon of automotive engineering – a hypercar that combines motorsport technology, V10 sound, and purist driving dynamics in timeless perfection. Equipped with BBS Motorsport magnesium wheels for the road!

2012

BBS Motorsport becomes independent

Spin-off of BBS Motorsport GmbH from BBS GmbH, independent company within the Maeda Kosen Group

2015

Development of FI-R

For high-end sports cars

The FI-R series sets standards in the high-end segment of sporty alloy wheels. Developed for maximum performance, it impresses with striking breakthroughs that reduce rotating mass. The result: faster response, more precise steering, and improved acceleration.

About the product
2022

Commissioning of our own paint shop

Chrome-free pretreatment, powder coating, and wet paint with robotic application ensure maximum precision and reproducibility. A Power & Free conveyor system enables robotic handling down to batch size 1. In motorsports, every gram counts – that's why we define and control the paint weights for performance wheels down to the gram.

2022

Exclusive supplier for Formula 1

Spin-off of BBS Motorsport GmbH from BBS GmbH, independent company within the Maeda Kosen Group

2026

Exclusive partner of Scuderia Ferrari

BBS Motorsport is entering into a multi-year technical partnership with Scuderia Ferrari starting in the 2026 Formula 1 season. As the exclusive supplier of forged magnesium racing wheels, we will be supporting Ferrari's Formula 1 team with specially developed solutions for use at the highest level.
